96 miles (154 km), from Milngavie to Fort William.
The West Highland Way runs 96 miles (154 km) from Milngavie, north of Glasgow, to Fort William. Most walkers take seven or eight days and walk it south to north, so the gentler stages come first. The official route divides into 8 stages — a stage is not necessarily one day, so plan your days around your own pace. Tap any stage for its guide.
Loch Lomond (stages 1–3): from Milngavie through Mugdock Country Park to Drymen, over Conic Hill to Balmaha, then along the east shore of Loch Lomond to Inverarnan — the path gets rough and rocky north of Inversnaid.
Glens & Rannoch Moor (stages 4–6): up Glen Falloch past Crianlarich, the halfway point, to Tyndrum; on to Bridge of Orchy and Inveroran; then across exposed Rannoch Moor to Kingshouse.
Glen Coe & Lochaber (stages 7–8): up the Devil's Staircase, the highest point of the Way at 550 m, down to Kinlochleven, then through the Lairigmor to Fort William.
